Edward Frantz is Professor of History at the University of Indianapolis, where he also serves as the Director of the Institute for Civic Leadership & Mayoral Archives. He is author of The Door of Hope: Republican Presidents and the First Southern Strategy, 1877-1933 (University Press of Florida, 2011), and editor of A Companion to Reconstruction Presidents, 1865-1881 (Wiley Blackwell, 2014). A member of various professional historical organizations, including service as the vice president of the Midwestern History Association, Frantz earned his M.A. and PhD from the University of Wisconsin and his A.B from Princeton University. He serves on the Board of Directors of Indiana Humanities.
